Roulette Addict Jailed for Embezzling Clients Funds
Bryan Kettle age thirty seven was an accounts assistant who took money from three businesses to fund his gambling habit. Kettle is addicted to electronic roulette machines and he embezzled a total of £120,000 from the businesses to fund his habit.

Kettle had been taking money since January 2003 when he was working with Galashiels accountants Hogg and Thorburn. The Selkirk Sheriff Court stated that Kettle had accounts at three different betting shops. An investigation revealed that Kettle made 3,095 bets at William Hill between February 2006 and November 2007 which totaled £211,882.

Kettle admitted to embezzling £100,000 from Ian and Shelia Robson over a four and a half year period as well as taking £10,000 each from a marquee firm in Gattonside and Hawich-based Border Bingo Clubs. Kettle was able to embezzle the cash as he had access to pre-signed checks from the businesses. The court has told Kettle to pay £41,000 of the debt back from a sale of a house. Kettle’s lawyer has stated that he became addicted to gambling in 2002 just after the electronic roulette machines were introduced into the bookmakers.
